I recommend this book for anyone looking for an entertaining contemporary romance read. I read One True Loves with my local book club and it made for a fun and engaging discussion! Most of us rated the book anywhere from a 4-4.5 out of 5 stars. I do, however, feel like the areas that felt rushed would make for an excellent opportunity for a film producer to chime in and work their magic so that viewers could really see what each character is experiencing. I would have loved more details, specifically with Jesse who is involved in a helicopter crash and goes missing for years, as well as Sam who is Emma’s new fiancé. The ending also felt rushed and wrapped up a little too quickly.

I did feel the book was lacking to character development, specifically with the male characters. Phillipa Soo (original Hamilton cast), Simu Liu (lead of Marvel’s. After grieving and living with her heartbreak, Emma begins to move on with old family friend Sam Kemper. However, he goes missing on their first wedding anniversary in a helicopter accident. Emma Blair marries her high-school sweetheart Jesse Lerner.

I enjoyed the love triangle saga and read the book in a matter of days. The film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller One True Loves has set a trio of buzzy actors at the lead. One True Loves is a beautiful story of grief and moving on from loss.
